Wednesday, and time to visit another stately house
This time Fyvie Castle, a grand pile extensively restored from ruins in 1890, and host to a reasonable collection of furniture and art (Beloved loved the glassware in the dining room) sadly another visit spoilt by unnecessary banning of the use of cameras inside.
However outside pictures a plenty, of the boathouse (What a holiday cottage that would make).
and the varied wildlife, we were astounded by the call of a great tit, such an unusual sound. as well as plenty of ducks taking their after lunch naps, and this pair of swans nesting. Leaving the castle we headed off to Fyvie Kirk
Inset into the east wall are a number of local pictish stones, as well as a magnificent tiffany window, donated by the lords of the manor, sadly the church doors were locked and we were unable to view (Or photograph) it in it’s full glory
