Room with a view
It’s that time of year again. Beloved and I are off on our annual spring break. This year we are headed off to the Aberdeenshire coast, but first a stop off overnight in Stonehaven. This being a stop off point in our Journey further north, but having it’s own stop off at the tiny harbour of Johnshaven
Beloved came up trumps with this incredible B & B. We were offered an upgrade to a suite, but that meant the sea view was from the lounge area rather than the bed, and who wouldn’t want to wake up to a view like this?
The beach stretches the width of the bay
and after a pleasant evenings walk we enjoyed Fish and Chips from what is apparently the best chip shop in Britain. braving the cold to make the most of the evening. We were also treated to the most spectacular moon rise, but the photo’s simply don’t do it justice.
The next morning we headed across to Stonehaven Harbour, our second harbour of the holiday, . Lunch at the delightful Tolbooth restaurant of the most excellent seafood and a visit to the Tolbooth Museum, a curious place run by enthusiastic locals, we headed off to our holiday proper. But a return visit to Stonehaven is highly possible, still lots to see and do, (We missed Dunottar Castle and some dramatic cliff top walks because of inclement weather).
Another stop off, at another harbour, this time at Cruden Bay
Although the view here is of the much more picturesque beach
