Not a Westland Whirlwind?
It’s helicopter time again. And to start with something very American… or is it?
This is Italeri’s Sikorsky H-19, built under licence in the UK as the Westland Whirlwind. As there are no good injection moulded kits (Aside from the very old, increasingly rare and consequently overpriced Airfix offering) I have decided to do the same as Westland and build from the Sikorsky base.
Only two sprues (Plus one clear) but some lovely detail in there (Although the panel lines are somewhat heavy)
Italeri’s usual fold out instruction leaflet, but clear enough.
And a couple of U.S. colour schemes which I shall ignore
And I have splashed out and bought aftermarket details as well as masking. Though, once I have used the ones I want I will resell the remainder which will help recoup the cost. I have wavered over a scheme, but think I will likely go with the sea grey over white rather than rescue yellow.
