As suggested in the unboxing some modifications are in hand
Firstly you can see the moulded quilting of the insulation in the large scale
not replicated in the smaller model, although Airfix have moulded in a rather prominent logo!
first some rough templates were cut from white labels stuck into the cabin
These were then transferred on metallised heat reflective film
and cut to neater edges
then fixed into the fuselage halves with double sided tape
A quick comparison, and I can see this replacing My used of duct tape to simulate insulation.
Next onto the larger model, which has these storage compartments for the rear of the cabin. Pictures show them being painted chipboard or similar with expanded metal mesh top surfaces
So I have glued some fine garden mesh to the top surface
And lined the visible sides with wide masking tape to give some texture and a lip to the top.
The large model also provides an access ladder, mountable in various positions
But photo references show it stowed as a folded unit, so I have cut it in half and glued the halves together. I am sure there will be more modifications later on, but that feels like a good start.
